NNEW Holds Business Workshop For Women

The Nigeria Employers Consultative Association Network of Entrepreneurial women has held a Business Training and Workshop for women, themed “Accelerating Your Business Growth: Inculcating System, Structures and Procedures,” in Abuja.

NNEW Chairperson Abuja chapter, Omololami Ajani, said that the training becomes imperative as the requirements for accessing the loans are most times unreachable.

“The workshop was about self-evaluation, strategy, planning and to ensure that the women in businesses start-off the year in the right direction.

“We would like the Federal government to look back into the structures put in to these funds they have made available through the Bank of Industry, Central Bank of Nigeria and other platforms.

“These funds are there, but who are those accessing them is another question.
“The major issue is the requirements to access these funds.

“Another key challenge for women accessing fund is; collateral. A lot of them do not own property, so where do they get this collateral needed from.

“Many of these financial institutions will tell you that they do not accept movable assets in terms of jewelry which the women would rather use as collateral.
“Women are actually averse to loan; we are not as aggressive as the men when it comes to applying for loans.”

Chief Executive Officer, Lead Consultant Worklife Solution, Chinye Oke said the training was a mentoring programme aimed at ensuring that women in business succeed for the economic growth of the country.

Oke said: “One of the things NNEW is doing is to ensure that every business woman has an accountability partner to checkmate each other’s progress for their businesses to thrive.

“This is our first programme of the year, which is a rethinking session to ensure individual business key into favourable environment and policies of government.”
Chief Executive Officer, Bread and More Limited, Adebayo Bakare who is a participant said the training and workshop programme was laudable.
Bakare said that the programme had positioned her on the next level on how to achieve her goal for the new business year.

“Also, we have been encouraged on how to get it right so that our mistakes are less, because life itself is a lesson.
“But there are lesser risks when you have the opportunity to attend such training like this.”
