Prof Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr, DG CHANGE AMBASSADORS OF NIGERIA shared his view about Nigeria present situation. Hear what he has to say.
I am compelled to undertake this discourse hoping to stimulate deeper debate in service of nation. We cannot continue to blame ourselves when inside of us is limitless well of knowledge to solve the many problems that trouble Nigeria.
I hear about the need for sacrifice in service of nation, sadly those who mouth sacrifice are oftentimes unwilling to lead by example. We have Lawmakers who were former State Executives, we have Ministers who were former Governors and vice versa, they are on double salaries, pensions, huge retirement/severance benefits etc but continue to ask humble Civil Servants to make some sacrifice by accepting pay cut, yet they will not forfeit one of the many emoluments they receive.
I read diatribes, insults and scurrilities everywhere, some from partisans, some from concerned citizens, and some from sworn opponents of government, sad I wonder why so much noise and less dialogue. If we agree that we must fix Nigeria, then we must refine our collective approach to the moment.
Must we fight corruption, if the answer is yes, then we must be careful in our debates not to side with the corrupt. Must we overhaul the power sector, if I hear a yes, then we must lampoon gas line vandals and challenge government to responsible action. Must we restructure the Oil sector for efficiency, if it is a yes, then we must repudiate the Cabal that controls that sector, we must cease the hoarding of products, we must abolish secret tolls by big marketers on small ones, we must fix our refineries and we MUST put the masses and indeed Country first.
Yes, Public Office Holders MUST lead by exemplary sacrifice, and always place excellence above politics.
God Bless Nigeria.
Watch out for continued version.
