Portion Consult which is one of Nigeria’s leading brand support service and printing company held a press conference during the week to announce her plan for the company’s 10th anniversary celebration coming up in September. The company has gained grounds by promoting businesses through her corporate existence for the past 10years.
Speaking at the press conference which took place at the company’s office in Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos, Mr Lanre Akintilo, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, said that the anniversary will be marked with activities which includes visit to an orphanage, a novelty football match, as well as an appreciation dinner to fete its numerous clients, friends and families. According to him, “Our 10th year anniversary celebration will be week-long activities that will incorporate community service, visit to Heart of Gold Hospices, a novelty football match with another company within our sector, a Stakeholders’ Forum with our vendors, a dinner to appreciate our clients, bankers, suppliers, family and friends, and a thanksgiving church service. The celebration will also feature award of excellence to staff who have contributed tremendously to the growth of the company in the last decade.”
According to the MD of the company, Mr Lanre Akintilo, “It is to mark the achievement of this company. We also want Nigerians to know that we are here and we can do more of everything. It is to appreciate God for the last 10 years, and the fact that we have survived the initial five years. Considering the fact that globally, and this has been attested to by World Bank/IMF reports, over 80% of small businesses die within the first five years of existence, we have every reason to celebrate.”
He also spoke about the genesis of Portion Consult as a printing press. He said that the company started after he was sacked by his former employer, Eminent Communications because of a difference in philosophy in 2005. This prompted him to start Portion Consult with only a laptop and a printer.
Speaking on the vision of the company, Mr Akintilo said, “Our vision is to be a company where our stakeholders, internally and externally, are excited all the time. I want to make our system fun. I come from a philosophy that says that work is fun and it is fun to work. I derive pleasure from my work and I also want all our stakeholders to have the same experience. My belief is that you spend 10-12hrs of every day at work and I feel you should be happy in that place; if you are not, then it is punishment of the highest order. We promote that excitement about our company, and we want our stakeholders to be excited while working with us. If any client gives us a job to do, I want them to be happy at the cost we deliver our business to them, and I also want those doing the jobs to be excited while carrying out their duties.”
Akintilo also seized the opportunity to implore the government to take urgent steps to make the business-terrain friendlier. In his words, “While we remain committed to continue to act and behave as a responsible corporate citizen, we call on the Federal Government and all relevant agencies of government to expedite action on how to make doing business in Nigeria very easy through improved infrastructure, majorly power, access to cheaper funds, security and the stability of the exchange rate. We want to re-iterate that the macro-economic stability of the country will help small, medium and big businesses plan, and we urge the Federal and Lagos State government to do more to make the business environment friendlier.”
Other personalities at the press conference include Mr. Temitope Ajayi (Executive Director), Mr. Babatunde Kamar (Head of Design and Graphics), Mrs. Chioma Onuoha (Head, Client Service), and others.
Among other achievements, Portion Consult has won the Allworld Network and Tony Elumelu Foundation award which listed the company as the sixth out of 50 fastest small but growing companies in Nigeria in 2013.
