A 21-year-old teacher in Ogun State, Mr. Matthew Sodake, was on Tuesday arraigned at an Ota Magistrates’ Court for allegedly having oral sex with a 14-year old student. He is facing alleged charges of assault.
The prosecutor in the case, Sgt. Chudu Gbesi, told the court that the offence was committed on July 12 at about 8.00 p.m. at Ambassador Star Comprehensive Secondary School, Answer, Ota in Ogun, Vanguard writes.
According to Sgt. Gbesi, the accused, whose address is not known, has contravened Section 216 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun,2006.
Gbesi told the court that the accused, a teacher in the school who was arrested last week, lured the 14-year-old student (name withheld) into one of the classrooms and the act of oral sex was performed. Mr. Sodake, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him.
In his ruling, the Senior Magistrate, Mr S.O Banwo granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Banwo said that the sureties must be residents within the court’s jurisdiction and should be gainfully employed.
The sureties were also ordered to swear to an affidavit of means and show evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government, before the case was adjourned to Aug. 12, for hearing.
