The fifth edition of the week long Social Media Week Lagos kicked off today with lots of guests in attendance.
The array of programmes got to a flying start at the Landmark event centre, Oniru Lagos on Monday February 27, 2017. During this one week, thought leaders, key stakeholders and the public will be brought together to explore issues that are important for the modern world. SMW Lagos is the largest, tech, new media and business conference on the continent of Africa. Annually over 12,000 people participate in the conference which garners hundreds of press mentions and has a social reach of 810 million.
The only event of its kind, SMW Lagos is a world class conference with Africa’s brightest minds that is free and open to the public with attendees from across Africa and around the world, SMW Lagos explores a wide range of topics including education, business, entertainment, technology, art, banking and politics.
It is a week long conference that provides the ideas, trends, insights and inspiration to help people and businesses understand how to achieve more in a hyper-connected world. The event features a central stage for keynotes and panels, multiple rooms for workshops, masterclasses and presentations, and an area dedicated to co-working, networking and interactive installations. The theme for Day 1 was “The Future of Media”, the summit highlighted technology impacting Africa’s media landscape and present was Chris Cox– Chief Product Officer at Facebook and chief of staff to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Obi Asika Founder & Chairman at Dragon Africa, Bolanle Austen Peters- CEO Terra Kulture, Mo Abudu -CEO EbonyLife TV, Kelechi Amadi-Obi – Renowned Photographer, as well as top representatives from both traditional and new media and many others.
Speakers for the first day which included a whole lot of investors and tech entrepreneurs are Chris Cox, Tyler Scriven, Leonard Stiegeler, Emmanuell Revmatos, Obi Asika, Osagie Alonge, Afua Osei, Adetomiwa Aladekomo, Sisi Yemmie, Stephanie Busari, Temitope Kifayah, Teju Ajani, Kelechi Amadi-Obi.
