NYSC Corps members of Kwara state celebrates with their member as she emerged the overall winner of the cooking competition organized and sponsored by O-Gas, a subsidiary of Oando Oil and group of companies Nigeria limited.
The competition was held on Thursday 12th November, 2015 at the pavillion of the National Youth Service Corps Orientation Camp, Yikpata in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The competition which was contested amidst stiff vigilance by the panel set for it was supervised by group of important judges headed by the head of kitchen in the camp, Mrs. Akon Omolaya.

Declaring open the competition, the manager in charge of Liquidified Petroleum Gas (L.P.G) of the Company for Midwest zone, Mrs Titilayo Dada said the company initiated the idea of organizing the competition in order to ensure that the Corps members switch from their manual method of cooking to the use of O-Gas which is cheaper than every other similar product in the market.
According to her, Liqudified Petroleum Gas is a product produced in Nigeria in different sizes. She also added that O-Gas is very cheap, portable and durable
She also added that their major motive for organizing the competition was to inculcate the culture of cooking on all the Corps members.
Announcing the result of the competition, the manager stated that the contestants who were given an hour to prepare their food with rice, spaghetti, chicken, beef, carrot, cabbage, and other ingredients have done well to the best of their knowledge.
Quadry Busayo Afusat who represented platoon 8 emerged as the best overall winner of the competition. She prepared janaham special with sun dried white rice.
Omolara Orisase took 2nd runner up. She prepared spaghetti Napolitano, Makama Sarali J while the 3rd runner up prepared Jollof rice with chicken ganished with cucumba and cabbage.
The contestants were tested on their creativity, arrangement, presentation of the meal, cleanliness of cooking place and their comportment.
On behalf of the NYSC camp officials, the camp director Mrs. Olusoji Olufunsho thanked the staffs of Oando Oil and Gas group for their support in making the event successful.
