Sunday Adeniyi Adegoye, popularly known as King Sunny Ade on Wednesday, November 30th became the first Nigerian musician to donate pieces from his personal reserve to Hard Rock’s world popular memorabilia collection. Personal items donated by King Sunny Ade included his vintage Fender guitar and some other personal belongings including an album cover and a pair of shoes at Hard Rock’s Cafe, Lagos.
Before now, the likes of notable foreign musicians such as Madonna, John Lennon, Jim Morrison etc has also donated personal items to Hard Rock. While Madonna donated her wedding gown from “Like a Virgin”, John Lennon donated a wire frame tinted glasses and Jim Morrison his famous brown leather pants.
King Sunny Ade’s donation will join these above mentioned items and other 81,000 pieces of music memorabilia that Hard Rock has acquired over it’s 45 years history.
In his own words at the event King Sunny Ade remarked:
I’m thrilled to be the first Nigerian musician to donate personal
items to Hard Rock’s world-famous collection and to be show-
cased alongside other legendary artists,” said King Sunny Ade.
For me, this is more than just a ceremony; it’s an opportunity to
pass on a cultural legacy and inspire new generations of
musicians around the globe.
The first-of-its-kind donation was brokered by leading talent agency and event management company, Temple Management Company, who are also putting together the highly-publicized grand concert for King Sunny Ade tagged “Sunny On Sunday” scheduled for Sunday, December 11, 2016 at Federal palace Hotel in Lagos..
Let’s celebrate with the hero.
