Katy Perry took to her Twitter feed Thursday to announce her upcoming gig hosting — and performing — at the VMAs in August. broadcasted live in partnership with Smirnoff from the Fabulous Forum in Inglewood, California on MTV (DStv channel 130) on Monday, 28 August at 01:00 WAT, with a repeat on 28 August at 20:30 WAT.
Perry will kick off the evening as the first announced performer for the ceremony. On Tuesday, Perry earned five VMA nominations for her video contributions over the last year, in five categories, including:
Best Pop, Best Direction and Best Visual Effects for “Chained to the Rhythm,” Best Art Direction for “Bon Appetit,” and Best Collaboration for Calvin Harris’ “Feels” featuring Pharrell Williams, Perry and Big Sean.
“I’ve been training with MTV in zero gravity, eating astronaut ice cream, and I’m on a group text with Buzz Aldrin an d Neil deGrasse Tyson,” said Katy Perry. “Come August 27th, I’ll be ready to be your MOONWOMAN! Brace for impact, kids.”
